Micro Laser Peel

The MicroLaserPeel is a more aggressive version of the NanoLaserPeel.

This skin resurfacing treatment is recommended for those who have higher levels of skin damage or those with mild to moderate skin damage who desire a deeper peel with more noticeable results.

Because this procedure can result in a few days of redness and mild swelling, and induces more noticeable peeling and flaking of the skin, we recommend scheduling your appointment on a Thursday or Friday to benefit from the weekend for your recovery.

BEFORE AND AFTER

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is MicroLaserPeel?

MicroLaserPeel removes a thin layer of damaged skin to improve texture and provide a more youthful appearance. It provides superior results because it can be administered with great precision of depth. The procedure is performed in your Riva physician's office and can be custom tailored to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.

How does MicroLaserPeel work?

The MicroLaserPeel beam is scanned over a treatment area to remove a thin layer of the skin. Removing the top layer eliminates some of the damaged cells that can give skin a tired, aged look. Plus, it activates messenger cells to trigger the body's natural healing process. As the skin heals, fresh cells grow and resurface the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.

What conditions can be treated with MicroLaserPeel?
  • Mild wrinkles/fine lines
  • Scars
  • Keratosis
  • Sun damage (e.g., freckles)
  • Pigment and texture irregularities

What areas of the body can be treated?

Most skin areas can be treated. Popular treatment areas are the face and neck, though some people also treat the chest and hands. You should discuss your needs with your Riva physician.

What will happen during the procedure?

During your initial consultation, the depth of the skin that the laser will need to penetrate will be determined.  A shallow peel may be recommended for light or mild skin damage, while a deeper treatment will be prescribed for more developed wrinkles and scars. This is a fully customizable treatment, so if you prefer less down-time, you can choose to have more treatments at a lower intensity and still achieve the same results.

Your skin will be cleaned in the treatment area and a topical anesthetic will be applied to reduce discomfort.  Your eyes will be protected with safety shields. Your Riva medical professional will position the laser handpiece above the skin and will hold it in place as the computer-guided scanner moves the laser beam around the treatment area. Depending on the size or number of targeted areas, the procedure normally takes 15-30 minutes.

Will it be uncomfortable?

With the application of a topical anesthetic, most patients do not consider this treatment painful.  You may feel a slight stinging sensation as the laser targets the damaged skin.

What should I expect immediately after the treatment?

After the treatment, your skin will feel and look like it has been sunburned. You may experience mild swelling. The treated skin will peel and flake over the next few days.

What aftercare do I need?

Your Riva provider will provide you with a post-treatment plan, including recommended protective ointments and mineral sunscreen.  Your skin will be sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed.

When should I expect results?

The top layer of your skin will re-grow and can be covered with make-up in about one week, at which time you will see noticeable improvements in your skin's texture, tone, and wrinkle appearance.
